Our Story

Yvonne and Cleighton have started Mage & Phoenix to offer a comprehensive array of services to the local area. With 20+years of experience in plumbing, fabrication, building and garden design.

We love the process of creating practical, functional yet beautiful spaces that flow. We combine the feminine and masculine to create zen spaces that are thoroughly thought through and well planned allowing our customers to enjoy a relaxed lifestyle.

We combine precision fabrication with a mixture of tasteful classic homestead style meets gypsy art.

Of service.

Cleighton grew up in a small town “on the mountain” as he calls it... to say he is community oriented would be an understatement. He has served over 10 years in the CFA and Lifesavers.

He did his plumbing apprenticeship with a 3rd generation Plumbing business that was established for more than 100 years and learned from one of the best in the business.

Since finishing his apprenticeship with … he has worked in civil plumbing … and enjoyed learning all facets of plumbing.

Over the past … years he has branched out into fabricating trailers, Coffee carts, camper trailers, caravans and horse float conversions.

Cleigh is the born problem solver he is always keen to learn something new. With his drive and precision he manages to attain new skills on the fly.

Realizing dreams.

It all begins with an idea.

Growing up in a tiny country town in Austria, Yvonne has dreamed of coming to Australia since she was a little girl. Reading about this wonderful continent with it’s strange animals and vast landscapes so different from Europe.

Yvonne studied hospitality, business and languages at one of the finest Hospitality colleges in Vienna.

In her early 20s she came to Australia as a backpacker and never left, Yvonne was hook line and sinker in love with a country that is so diverse and offers so many opportunities.

“And of those I grabbed as many by the horns as I could!”

From running her own businesses selling jewelry at markets in Broome, landscaping and gardening in Darwin, running a market garden and breeding heritage chickens in Mia Mia to photography and videography.

Yvonne has worked in many industries (Landmark, racing industry, horse stud, wholesale import business, hospitality, galleries, veterinary practice and more).
”I love learning!”

Always keeping an open mind and taking on new challenges helped Yvonne greatly in establishing her own permaculture farmlet. Trying to work out how to best deal with a tricky landscape and uninviting climate she took a course in permaculture design.

“This has taught me so much!

Most of all to sit and watch and listen.
Mother nature has all the answers.”

In our family business Mage & Phoenix Yvonne looks after the bookwork and occasionally helps out on a job.
When it comes to creating new spaces and refurbishing trailers and caravans her artistic side helps create beautiful yet incredibly practical spaces.
